The protagonist of the book Witch Child by Celia Rees, is an English girl whose name is Mary Newbury. Mary is fourteen years old and never 
knew either of her parents. She lived with her grandmother until she was handed for being a “witch”. At the beginning of the book , Mary’s antagonists were the villagers, first friends and then enemies. While traveling to America on the ship her antagonists are the people traveling with her: the Puritans. But her main antagonists are Deborah, Hannah, Elizabeth and Sarah.Mary’s main problem is that she has to hide her past: her grandmother’s hanging. If someone comes to know her grandmother was a “witch” she would be accused of being one too. She tryes to change country because it would be better for her to escape again and find another place where to live.My book doesn’t have a real end. That’s because it’s an interrupted diary.
