Synopsis 10-Historical Novel

All Quiet on the Western Front is narrated by Paul Bäumer, a young man of nineteen who fights in the German army on the French front in World War I. Paul and several of his friends from school joined the army voluntarily after listening to the stirring patriotic speeches of their teacher, Kantorek. But after experiencing ten weeks of brutal training at the hands of the petty, cruel Corporal Himmelstoss and the unimaginable brutality of life on the front, Paul and his friends have realized that the ideals of nationalism and patriotism for which they enlisted are simply empty clichés. When Paul’s company receives a short reprieve after two weeks of fighting, only eighty men of the original 150-man company return from the front. The cook doesn’t want to give the survivors the rations that were meant for the dead men but eventually agrees to do so; the men thus enjoy a large meal They no longer believe that war is glorious or honorable, and they live in constant physical terror.

Energy Sources and Waste

In these days there are a lot of environmental problems. There is pollution, too much waste that has been accumulated in millions of years, and now serious problems are coming out. There is the hole in the Ozone, there is the Global Warming Issue, the Nuclear Wastes. I now want to talk about our resources and about wasting. Everyday we use almost the double of what we really need. We certainly use far too much water every day. We use an average of 200 liters of water per day, it seems absurd, but just think. To cook, wash , drink, and for simple entertainment. When I thought of it I said , but so? We use the water which then goes again in the ocean and so can be reused. I wasn't really right. The water we use comes from lakes, glaciers and from icebergs. Lakes are being used all up while because of the Global Warming, glaciers and icebergs are all melting down and won't freeze back again. There still is the water of the ocean yes, but it costs thousands of money to desalize it, and it is very difficult. And we know that obviously we can't live without water! One person wont' make the different, but if everyone would do shorter showers, close the water while you brush your teeth, and play a little less with it, it would surely make the difference.I now want to talk about energy. Now the biggest power resource is petroleum, but petroleum is not a renewable resource, and it is starting to finish. Petroleum is every day less, and it wont be in a lot of time that it will finish. There are alternative resources. There is nuclear energy, wind power, solar power, hydro power and fossil fuels. Nuclear Energy is very strong, and produces a lot of energy, but there is a problem. Where should we put the nuclear scores (wastes)? They are highly radioactive and cause death. Then there is the solar power, the sun is considered a renewable resource because it will be in a very far future that it will explode, but still the solar power is very expensive and not very efficient. . The Wind Power is infinite and doesn't pollute, we should use it more. The hydro power is also perfectly clean and works perfectly.I would like to incentive the use of this clean resources. We are still on time to save our world. If you can move with your bicycle do so and don't use your car. Don't waste paper, also the trees will run out. Don’t' waste water. Shut the lights, the computer and TV when you aren't using them!!!Help us Save the World for the Future Generations.
